Hmm... He used the term "boy" when she was his counsellor/volunteer in the orphanage - guess the age difference.
Romeo also talked about his experience filming The Journey 2 in Malaysia.
When I talked about Chris Tong and Romeo Tan being casted as a couple in Good Luck in my previous post, I mentioned that I wasn't sure if there is much age difference in the May-December couple relationship. Apparently, in Romeo's imaging interview with Xinmsn, he disclosed that his character, Liu Xuan, was an introvert boy that grew up in an orphanage until he met an angel like volunteer, Lin Shi Hui (Chris). When the two reunite as adult, he started chasing her due to a commitment that he made when he was a boy. Hmm... He used the term "boy" when she was his counsellor/volunteer in the orphanage - guess the age difference. Romeo also talked about his experience filming The Journey 2 in Malaysia. I hope the stylist will realize that Romeo looks better with his fringe down.

This would be the 3rd collaboration between Chris & Romeo after they played a May-December couple (with 7-8 years age difference) in 96 Cafe, and mother-and-son in upcoming Blockbuster drama, The Journey 2. Chris is known for pairing up with older males like Tay Ping Hui, Terence Cao and Thomas Ong, but in actual fact, Chris (31) is only 2 years older than Romeo (29). They again portray the younger-husband- older-wife in Good Luck (百岁大吉), though it wasn't specified how big is the age difference. Chris shares a witty text-conversation with Romeo: "Please stop calling me mother, please call me goddess!" and the latter cheekily replied " you are still my mother" About Shihui & Liu Xuan...Shihui (Chris Tong) has always been an independent, and a sensible girl who does not give trouble to her parents. An outstanding student both in conduct and studies, she joins the working world as an independent-thinking, modern woman. Opinionated and capable, she is savvy in seizing opportunities. She is employed in an auditor’s firm. Her excellent performance earns the boss’ trust. Shihui resents her father’s overbearing ways, which strains the relationship between father and daughter. Yunxiu constantly pesters Shihui to tie the knot, fearing that she will pass a marriageable age. This forces Shihui more than ever to evade the question. But all that changes when she meets Liu Xuan (Romeo Tan). Liu Xuan is good looking and charming, with an air of maturity. He can strike up a conversation with anyone and projects a mature demeanor. However, he is a boy at heart, and occasionally behaves in a way that raises eyebrows. Despite holding a Masters in Philosophy, he does not pursue fame and fortune. Full of passionate ideals, he gives up a well-paying job as a lecturer in an academy to teach in a Special Education school, helping children with learning disabilities. Liu Xuan meets Shihui and he finds out that she is a former volunteer at an orphanage. Deciding that she is the only girl he will ever marry, Liu Xuan woos her aggressively. In no time, Shihui and the younger Liu Xuan get together. Xiaohe vehemently opposes the relationship. The rebellious Shihui throws caution to the wind and enters into a “lightning” marriage with Liu Xuan. In marriage, both begin to notice each other’s differences. Shihui is subsequently awakened to the fact that the marriage is unstable and holding on to it tightly will only hurt both parties. In the end, she decides to part with Liu Xuan. But after the separation, both of them discover that they are unable to forget each other. Good Luck premiers 2nd February 2015, after You Can Be An Angel Too. Bonus: Romeo's abs at 18:55 (since I can't find a decent photo of them together)The Journey 2: Tumultuous Times (信约:动荡的年代) has launched its official homepage on Xinmsn. Blockbusters usually gets a pretty detailed homepage, do check it out for more behind the scene photos and their pre-production interviews. Tumultuous Times premiers 24 November 2014. Comments: Seems like there are a lot of politics involved in this drama, hope it doesn't get boring... I counted a total of 3-love-triangles: (Jeanette>Romeo>Felicia), (Romeo>Felicia>Andie)& (Carrie>Shaun>Jeanette) okay, lemme re-arrange: Carrie carries a torch for Shaun, who carries a torch for Jeanette, who marries Romeo, who carries a torch for Felicia, who loves Andie. confused? Main Casts profile:Hu Jia (originally called Zhang Jia), is an optimistic, loyal, street-smart and cunning child, is Tianying’s and Huiniang’s son. Not long after his parents passed away, he also got separated from his sister during a gang chase. Hu Jia (Shaun Chen) later stayed with Hu Weiren, hoping to avenge his father’s death. With Hu Weiren, he learnt many unorthodox tricks and became involved in secret societies and triads. He later became one of the leaders of a street gang, with loyal underlings. Although he is childhood sweethearts with Tang Shui Mei, his true love is actually Hong Ming Hui. Zhang Yan (Romeo Tan), a smart boy who always aced his studies, is the son of Tianpeng and Mingzhu. He is very self-confident, sometimes to the extent of sounding arrogant. He studied law in England, with the ambition of going into politics when he comes back to Singapore. He eventually joined Lim Yew Hock’s government and held an important post. However, his arrogance led him astray. To fulfil his aims, he would resort to extreme means and he also fell out with his brother Hong Dang Yong. Zhang Yan loves Ming Hui, whom he grew up with, but his true love is actually Zhang Min. However, as Zhang Min is his cousin, though not related by blood, he is hesitant to confess his feelings. He eventually married Ming Hui, though it ended up as a rocky marriage. Hong Dang Yong (Andie Chen), a handsome and energetic young man, is the eldest son of Hong Shi and Ya Zi. Idealistic by nature, he is deeply concerned with revolutionist ideas, and eventually joined the leftist in their fight for the country’s independence. The rivalry between Zhang Yan and him intensified when, apart from having different ideals, the two fell out over Zhang Min. Dangyong even plotted to assassinate the latter. After his arrest, he realized his mistakes and worked hard to get a law degree. He also eventually believed in a meritocratic society, where hard work is rewarded. He is childhood sweethearts with Zhang Min, and they got married despite several obstacles. Ming Hui (Jeanette Aw), a nurse, is Dang Yong’s younger sister. Although she looks frail, she has a strong personality and her perseverance does not pale in comparison to men. Everyone thinks that she and Zhang Yan are a match made in Heaven, but she discovered Zhang Yan’s true nature after marriage, and was estranged from him. She only kept up with the marriage so as to not worry her parents. Zhang Min (Felicia Chin),a simple and pure girl, is a Mandarin teacher at a Chinese school. She blames herself greatly for being separated from her younger brother Zhang Jia (Hu Jia) when she was young. As she grew up with Dangyong, she share his ideals and participated actively in student protests. Though Zhang Yan carries a torch for her, she remains steadfast to Dangyong even when he was on the run. Bai Lan Xiang (Carrie Wong), more common known as Tang Shui Mei (糖水妹), has a tough personality and fiery temper despite her sweet looks. Although she is just a street vendor, she has many suitors asking for her hand, whom she all rejected, as she only has one man in mind – Hu Jia. Even though she often bickers with Hu Jia, she shares a strong bond with him.
Casts from Season 1:
About Tumultuous Times...In the wee hours of the morning on 8 Dec 1941, Japanese planes attacked Singapore by air under the cloak of the night. This is the beginning of the period of unrest in Singapore. With the death of Tianying and Huiniang during the Japanese occupation, Zhang Min and Zhang Jia planned to go to Ipoh to seek shelter at Hong Shi’s and his wife Yazi’s place. En route to Ipoh however, Zhang Min and Zhang Jia were separated and the latter was severely wounded. After being rescued by Hu Weiren, Zhang Jia acknowledged the latter as his father, with hope of seeking revenge for his father’s death. Growing up by Hu Weiren’s side, the intelligent and agile Hu Jia learnt much about triads and shady dealings, and came into his own within a matter of years. Anti-colonialism sentiments were high after World War II. Zhang Yan and Dangyong, who were once close as brothers, drifted apart as both had different opinions on how Singapore should achieve independence. Dangyong joined the leftists, while Zhang Yan on the other hand, chose to join Lim Yew Hock’s government, seeking to wrestle for political power in a peaceful manner. As Zhang Yan scaled the political ladder, he began to lose himself, starting to make merry with the powers that be, engaging in debauchery and taking bribes on the side. He was also in charge of revoking the license of the Association of Secondary Schools and taking action against students in Sep 1956. This pit Zhang Yan face-to-face against Dangyong and Hu Jia, and the tense situation is about to erupt any minute… Photo Gallery:Against the Tide (逆潮) released its 1st heart-pounding trailer and boy, it looks exciting! Quoting a sentence from the trailer:- Di Shen (Chris Lee): When you were describing the murder scenes a while ago, it felt as though you became the murderer." Comment: Qiu Xue Qing (Rui En) may not be as angelic as it was given to us in the profiles or maybe the scenes were referring to Xue Qing's supernatural power where she can feel her patients (the murderer) through hypnotism. Updated (19/09/14) English Trailer: Characters description from Toggle Now App:
Life Is Beautiful (初一的心愿) is a collaboration between MediaCorp and the National Kidney Foundation (NKF), hopes to be able to raise awareness of kidney-related diseases and encourage the common folk to pay more attention to their kidney health. The story follows Shen Chuyi (Rui En), a bright young girl who is suddenly stricken with both kidney failure and the accidental death of her best friend, Cai Jiayi (Esther Yang). She eventually learns how to conquer her illness and find happiness again, with the help of the latter’s fiancé, Yu Yang (Pierre Png). Rui En plays the main character, Shen Chu Yi, a kidney patient with a sunny and positive personality who is nicknamed “Healthy Baby” because of her fixation with having a healthy lifestyle. Rui En, who plays a classic good girl, shared that her challenge would be to bring some humanity to a potentially too-perfect character. “The role is written very positive. It’s written very sunshine. It’s just a very likable role. She puts everyone else first. She nags all the people around her to eat healthy: Less sugar, less salt, less everything. But for me, I’m more interested in making the role real. I’m more interested in making it relatable rather than popular. And so that will be my challenge because she’s perfect,” the actress said. Pierre Png plays Yu Yang who lost his girlfriend, Cai Jiayi, through an accident. Although Pierre plays Rui En’s love interest, he said: “The love story is secondary.” The primary thing, he said, is to “tell the real story” of people who have to watch their loved ones suffer health issues. This is the 6th collaboration between Rui En & Pierre after Passion and Honour, A tale of two cities, The In-laws, CLIF 2 & 3. Allen Chen plays Ding Zhan Peng, Chuyi's boyfriend Jeffrey Xu plays Lin Zhong Ken, a fitness instructor who is good friend with Chuyi & Yuyang. He has a love line with Cai Jiajia (Yahui), Jiayi's younger sister. Link Chen Shu Cheng & Lin Mei Jiao play the parents of Jiajia & Jiayi. Ian Fang plays a young stroke patient, Zaizai. Fang 姐 (Cynthia Koh) is like Chuyi's counselor whom gives her advice whenever she ran into problem. She takes care of Zaizai's & Fei'zai (Cavin Soh)'s diet. Hong Hui Fang plays Yuyang's biological mom, Lin Shao Ping, a career women. Sora Ma plays Ann her secretary (?) You Can Be An Angel Too (你也可以是天使) premieres Jan 5, 2015 on Ch8 at 9pm. From the 190-episode drama 118 to 贺岁剧 Chinese New Year drama - Good Luck (百岁大吉), we are given a lot of casts interview but little is known of the story plot or the character they play. I'm not sure if the interviewer had forgotten to ask the casts about the character they are portraying during the imaging session or they conveniently excluded it from the article/video cause their body weight and endorsement scams are much more interesting to read. I tried digging up on any information I can find for 百岁大吉, and chanced upon the super long synopsis on Xinmsn's Call for Music Proposal. It's super long and tiring to read the whole text without knowing who plays what character, cause I can't visualize the unfamiliar character names. For the next few minutes, I shall do match-the-character-names-to-the-story-line. This 2014 Chinese New Year family drama takes place in the household of a four-generation family and is set to span decades too, albeit briefly, which will see Hui Fang transition from a 39-year-old Lin-He Xiangniang in the 1950s into a 99-year-old grand dame in modern day Singapore. Same-age peers – Chen Li Ping, Li Wen Hai, Wen Zhang and Chen Shu Cheng (who is coincidentally playing her onscreen partner in the currently airing Spice Up) play her daughter and sons in the drama. Lin-He Xiangniang (Hong Hui Fang), matriarch of a 4-generation family, celebrates her 100th birthday on the first day of Chinese New Year. Widowed in her middle age, she slogged away and singlehandedly raised four sons and two daughters. A life of hardship has made her increasingly stern towards those around her. She is especially harsh on her children. In the eyes of others, Xiangniang is an old lady who is getting cranky by the day. They keep a polite distance from her. With some of her children migrated overseas, she is left with her third son, Lin Xiaohe, youngest son, Lin Xiaoping, and her adopted daughter, Lin Xiaozhen. Although they are family, everyone fights over money matters every day. For peace of mind, Xiangniang splits the family assets among her children to let them venture on their own, and even makes them leave the family home. Kym Ng & Aloysius Pang pairs up as mother-son duo again after It takes two (对对碰) 2 years ago. Unlike her auntie role in 对对碰, Kym will be portraying Li Suxian, a thoughtful women that strives to make everyone around her happy. Similarly, Aloy jumps out of his usual rebellious-teen role to portray Lin Jia Yuan, a mature character with a sense of righteousness. Terence Cao plays Lin Shijie, the ex-husband of Li Suxian, who brought up his son (Aloy) in Australia. Lin Shijie is the orphaned child of Xiangniang’s eldest son. His parents were killed in an accident when he was still a baby. Shijie was brought up by Xiangniang. He is her favorite grandchild among her brood of grandchildren. Shijie’s unbridled ways, non-competitive nature and carefree spirit captivates Suxian at first sight. Shijie and Suxian get married. Shijie’s character remains unchanged after marriage and they have a son, Jiayuan. Suxian feels that Shijie lacks a sense of responsibility and is wasting his life away. She reaches breaking point and part ways with Shijie. To avoid hampering Suxian from remarrying, Shijie makes up his mind to migrate overseas with Jiayuan. After regaining her singlehood, Suxian puts her heart and soul into her career. Suxian is attentive to details and is thoughtful to others. She has no qualms about putting up a front as long as this does not burden anyone. Although she has divorced Shijie, Suxian remains close with Xiangniang. She is the one who understands Xiangniang’s feelings most. Xiangniang lives in hope that Suxian will reconcile with Shijie. Jiayuan, who grows up abroad receiving a liberal education, is sly and capricious. He enjoys observing people and is good at reading their moods. After years of being away, Jiayuan returns to the family home. He sees in his great grandmother, Xiangniang, a centenarian surrounded by a bunch of money grubbers lusting after her remaining fortune. As Jiayuan laments at this observation, he is suddenly seized by a sense of righteousness. When Xiangniang regains consciousness from an accident, Jiayuan joins hands with Xiangniang to save the family. Chen Li Ping plays Lin Xiao Zhen, the adopted daughter of He Xiang Niang. Liping's previous project was 2014 Chinese New Year drama Yes We Can! (我们一定行!), filmed last year. Lin Xiaozhen has always felt that Xiangniang treats her like an outsider. In her younger days, she was unfortunate to have married a gambling addict, and picked up the vice herself. Her husband’s gambling debts led him to abandon his family and daughter. The headstrong Xiaozhen refused Xiangniang’s offer of assistance, and went ahead to deliver a baby girl, Fang Enqi (Paige Chua). Xiaozhen is unable to overcome her gambling addiction and the business at her restaurant worsens. Liping's real life husband Rayson Tan is rumored to star as her reel life husband when he posted the following caption on his Instagram: "So scary! Why? Why me! Never expect to be cast as her husband in the next drama....Moreover, wanna me to portray a bad hubby image...hmm.....(crying) Help! Hahaha..." Lin Shijun (Zhang Zhen Huan), a typical youth of the “strawberry generation” in the post ‘80s. Shijun has lofty ideals but limited means. He wants to earn big bucks but lacks the ability. He aims high and acts smart. His investments often end in losses. Whenever Shijun needs money, he will turn to his relatives.
When the two break up, Shijun realizes that he is truly in love with Enqi. For the sake of love, Shijun makes up his mind to shed his pampered lifestyle and make an honest living. His relationship with Enqi has a fairy tale ending. IMO, everyone who breaks up in this drama will reconcile. The end~~ |
